Original EcoSphere

The Original EcoSphere is the world’s first totally enclosed ecosystem. It’s a complete living, self-contained, self-sustaining miniature world encased in glass.

The EcoSphere contains active micro-organisms – algae and red shrimp – in a clear 'soup' of filtered sea-water. You just provide the EcoSphere with indirect natural or artificial light and the ecosystem will thrive with no further attention required.

The EcoSphere is beautifully crafted, fascinating to look at and demonstrates the delicate balance of a closed system – just like the Earth. It also contains some of the same essential elements that are found on our planet.

The Earth is represented by gravel at the bottom of the globe, with water filling approximately two-thirds of the system and air filling the rest of the space. Fire is represented by the light you provide. To complete the system, the shrimp, the algae and the bacteria are the life.
