Bamboo boxes - set of 3

These boxes, made by a small family business in Hanoi are strong, hard wearing and beautifully lacquered in natural resin. Bamboo is a wonderful raw material, with very fast re-growth rates and sustainable plantations providing a high quality raw material. Natural lacquer from the “Varnish Tree” (Rhus Veniciflua) is harvested like rubber, from the living tree. It’s thought the art of lacquering bamboo may be 4,000 years old.

Throughout Vietnam there are craftsmen still working in the traditional way, and this small family business in Hanoi is rightly proud of their quality.
