A healthy alternative to giving chocolate Easter Eggs

Posted on 23/08/2008

You might buy a chocolate Easter Egg for your loved ones because it’s the traditional thing to do. Whilst giving eggs at Easter is traditional, chocolate eggs are just the commercial version promoted by Supermarkets and Confectionary companies.

Of course, it can be more about the chocolate than the egg to a lot of people – especially children. Much in the same way Christmas can be more about Father Christmas than Jesus to many. So, what are the alternatives for those looking to give a traditional Easter gift, but without having to buy chocolate?

A healthy alternative - Decorated Easter Eggs

Decorated or painted eggs are where the tradition begins, so this would be a great place to start. In years gone by, it was as much about finding the well-hidden, decorated eggs as it was about receiving them. Parents would create a game for the children to play by hiding the eggs around the house and perhaps garden. Particularly if you have small children, starting this new family tradition could be very rewarding.
