Every year millions of people make their New Year’s Resolutions, with a good percentage determined to get fitter. You might make the same resolution every year too. If not, surely you know somebody who does.
It’s no coincidence that gym memberships spike massively in January. Unfortunately, many of these new memberships go unused from February onwards. We start out with the best of intentions, determined to lose a few extra pounds, get fitter and start leading a healthier lifestyle.
Getting fit and staying fit requires dedication and determination. You have to set realistic goals and stick to them. But on a rainy Saturday afternoon, given the choice between watching TV or packing your gym equipment, going to the gym and sweating it out for a couple of hours, it’s hardly surprising that it’s tempting to give up before you’ve given it a real chance.

Your Christmas gift could be the answer
Fortunately New Year’s resolutions are made almost immediately after Christmas. So, when you’re thinking of what to buy as a Christmas gift this year, why not consider some fitness equipment?
If you know a serial “I’m going to get fit this year” optimist, give them a gift to help them on their way. There are hundreds of smaller, portable and easily stored fitness products which could keep their interest long after they’d have cancelled their gym membership.
If they had easy access to an exercise ball, abs machine or step at home they’d be more inclined to use your gift. Yoga equipment too is something to consider; not only can they use this at home, but if they decide to join a class it can be taken along too.
If you could buy a Christmas gift which would be welcomed, used and do some good in the process, surely it’s something to consider.
