A great gift for home workers

Do you know somebody who works from home, some or all of the time and whose job sees them sitting at a computer or desk? If so, they’ll more than likely suffer from occasional, or worse still, persistent back-ache problems. Sitting in the same position for any length of time is bad for your posture and can easily lead to back problems.

Speaking from personal experience, once you have back-ache problems they can really be a problem. Try working that same job, at a computer screen, when you do have back-ache. It’s not pleasant and often a slight twinge or ache can lead to days of lying on the floor trying to recover.

Anyway, back to the really cool gift idea. There are plenty of articles relating to this on the Internet (if only I’d read them before), but sitting on an exercise ball, or swiss ball instead of a chair means you’re constantly re-adjusting your sitting position.

As your balance is constantly shifting, your core muscles constantly work and your body is forced into a position which is good for your posture. So, whilst sitting at your desk, you’re getting a gentle workout as your body is forced in constant motion. Not only will your fitness improve, you’ll likely lose weight and your balance will improve too.

With all these great benefits, surely an exercise ball is a gift which will see them loving you forever. And we’ve not even touched on the other reason to buy an exercise ball; its main purpose, to get you exercising and improving your fitness.
