In the UK we live in a consumer led society; a situation which isn’t going to change overnight. Even as the cost of living increases we’ll continue to buy Christmas and Birthday gifts for our husbands, wives, girlfriends and boyfriends, families and close friends.
In an ideal world, we’d all be buying environmentally-friendly gifts such as a tree planting or Climate relief packs. The simple fact is that our planet is in trouble, with climate changes affecting us all. If you don’t think climate change is affecting you, just pay a visit to your local supermarket and look at how food prices gave increased. This generation will go down in history as the one who knew of the problem and could have made a difference; but will we? There’ll come a point when it’s too late to make that difference; when that is, nobody knows, it could be next week or next year.
Many people see a big problem and think they can’t make a difference, so don’t bother to try. We put a lot of faith in our governments, but they move far too slowly. Our leaders are at the mercy of the money-men, who’re interested in making money, not helping the environment.

We can make a difference
Even if one in a hundred people the UK bought a tree planting gift for one other person this Christmas, we’d make a huge difference. You could choose not to bother; let someone else be the one in a hundred, or you could be the one.
